From time to time we will place information and answers to common questions in this section to make your visit and experience at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre as enjoyable as possible.

  • General

    • How do I find out when to arrive and what time a show starts?

      Please refer to your tickets which will give you the show start times, some events will also state the door times on the ticket. Additional information can also be found on our website. If you have purchased your tickets via the internet through Ticketmaster, an email will be sent to you giving you further concert information. Due to the nature of live entertainment, all times including end of show times are approximate and subject to change.
    • Are there restaurant facilities at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre?

      Apart from the The Circle Club (our exclusive members club) there are no restaurant facilities on site at the theatre. There are four kiosks in the theatre where you can buy tea, coffee, confectionary and popcorn. There is also one fully licensed bar on every floor. There are plenty of restaurants surrounding the theatre that offer pre theatre menu options.
    • Who do I contact for lost property?

      If you lose property after attending the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, please contact us as soon as possible during office hours (Monday to Friday 9.30pm to 5.30pm). Any lost property that is found in the venue is handed into the management office. Please call the office on 01-674 2400 (and dial 0) to inform our team of the missing item.
    • Is there a policy for late arrivals?

      Each show will have a different latecomer policy. We do endeavour to seat all latecomers where possible with as little disturbance as possible to the rest of the audience. This will tend to be during moments of applause, but is always at the discretion of the artist and producer.
    • Can I bring Children to the Theatre?

      All Children aged 3 and over can visit the theatre with a valid ticket. Babes in arms and infants 2 years old and under will not be permitted into the theatre. However, if the performance is classed as a children’s show then infants 2 years old and under are admitted free of charge and will not need to purchase a ticket as no seat will be allocated.

      Please note that parents with a child who is disrupting other patrons will be asked to leave the auditorium to settle the child. Our policy is that only one infant is permitted per family, and if you are bringing other children to a show along with an infant, it is advisable that at least two adults are in attendance.
    • Can I bring my own alcohol to the venue?

      As we are licensed premises, unfortunately not. For most events at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, alcoholic beverages are available for purchase. Customers may be required to show ID to purchase alcohol. Customers are not permitted to bring in alcoholic beverages from outside and may not leave with alcohol purchased inside the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre. Management reserves the right to refuse the sale of alcohol to any customer. Please be aware that it is the policy of the Bord Gais Energy Theatre to require all customers who appear to be twenty one (21) years of age or younger to present a valid form of ID with proof of age in order to purchase alcoholic beverages at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre. We accept only the following forms of identification: • A valid Garda National Age Card • A valid passport • A valid driver's licence
    • Will my bag be searched?

      We reserve the right to carry out random bag searches. Any alcohol found on a person will be confiscated in accordance with our company policy that customers are not permitted to bring alcoholic beverages into the venue from outside; this is to ensure the health and safety, as well as the enjoyment of all our patrons.Any bottles being brought onto the premises, will be checked for alcoholic content
    • Q: I sometimes suffer from vertigo. Where will I be most comfortable within the auditorium?

      A: If you suffer from vertigo you might find the stalls or circle more comfortable than seats in the upper circle or boxes.     • Q. I’ve seen something about a Facility Charge when purchasing tickets – can you explain what this is?

      A: We here at Bord Gáis Energy Theatre are very proud of our iconic building, and take great care in maintaining it to the high standards our audiences deserve. As we are getting older, we wish to remain proactive about retaining that quality, and that’s where our Facility Charge comes in. All tickets purchased for our 2018 programme, and moving forward, will include a €1.00 Facility Charge, which will allow us to invest in refurbishing and enhancing the theatre even more. It is our wish to preserve our wonderful venue, and ensure that it remains as beautiful as the day we first opened, so that we may continue to delight our audiences for many more years to come. Thank you for your continued support, and for helping to keep Bord Gáis Energy a world class venue.
  • Tickets

    • Are there any additional charges when I purchase tickets from the box office?

      There are no service charges when you book in person at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre Box Office. Whether you pay by cash, laser or credit card, the cost of the ticket is all that you will be charged for. General sales for tickets cannot be made 30 minutes before the show, as box office are busy dealing with ticket collections for the show during this time.
    • What are the opening times for the box office?

      The box office will be open from 11am to 6pm Monday to Friday and for one hour prior to every performance. Patrons are advised that on performance days (including midweek matinees) general sales for tickets cannot be made 30 minutes before the show, as box office are busy dealing with ticket collections for the show during this time. Patrons looking to book tickets for future performances will be asked to wait until the queue for ticket collection subsides, at which time they can proceed with their booking. The box office will be closed on bank holidays, unless there is a show on.
    • Can I purchase tickets at the box office on the evening of a show?

      If tickets are available then you will be able to purchase them at the box office on the evening of a show. Please note that these tickets are not reduced in price from the ticket price advertised. Patrons are advised that priority will be given to ticket collections 30 minutes before show time. Those purchasing tickets for another show may have to wait until the current show commences. Box Office opening hours are 11am – 6pm Monday – Friday. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
    • Can I bring Children to the Theatre?

    • Are there concessions available?

      Where applicable we offer concession prices to senior citizens, patrons who are registered as disabled (and a carer), students and children. Concessions may not be available for all performances or shows.
    • I have tickets and I want to exchange them for another performance - is that possible?

      Provided there is availability, it should be no problem to change your booking to another performance of the same show, please note that ticket prices will vary depending on the day so you may be asked to pay for the difference (weekend performances are generally dearer tickets than mid-week). If you booked online or with the Ticketmaster phone line you will need to contact the Ticketmaster Customer Service Line on 0818 903 001 (and choose option 5 to be put on hold for an operator). Please note that the automated message will say that Ticketmaster will not issue any refunds or exchanges, but they are aware of our exchange policy for long running shows and will organise this for you. For security reasons, the person who purchased the tickets will need to phone up about the exchange. If you booked through the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre Box Office then please contact the theatre on 01-6777 999 and ask to speak to someone regarding Box Office ticket exchange.
  • Transport

    • Are there parking facilities at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre?

      The Grand Canal Square car park run by Q-Park is now open from (opening times 7am – 12 midnight daily). There are 150 spaces and 8 Disabled spaces available.

      There is limited on-street parking available in the area. The most convenient way to reach the theatre is by public transport. Both the Grand Canal Dock and Pearse Street Dart stations are a 10-15 minute walk away. Dublin Bus Routes 1, 2, 3, 50, 56a, 77 and 77a all operate to both of these Dart stations and are the closest stops to the venue.
